Insight into local artists

An Insight series presents the stories of two local artistic giants — Peter Wilson and Yuri Worontschak.

Peter excels in the field of puppetry: for the stage and largescale events, for the community, and in education at tertiary institutions. He is much accomplished and internationally and locally awarded. He was puppetry director of King Kong (the musical), featuring the largest puppet ever created for the stage, which played in Melbourne and on Broadway.

Composer and MD Yuri Worontschak has worked on more than 20 feature films, hundreds of television programs and has composed five musicals. He is as awarded as he is prolific. His screen credits include Love the Beast (Eric Bana), Halifax (Essie Davis), Utopia, Mad as Hell, Big Girl’s Blouse (Kath and Kim) and AFI Awards (Hugh Jackman).

The Glen Eira Storytelling Festival makes its long-awaited live return in 2022, with events and programs for all ages and interests.

From exhibitions and concerts, theatre and comedy to live discussions, poetry and book readings — this year’s program brings us back together as a community, celebrates storytelling and helps us to think deeply about who we are in the world.

Stay tuned for the full program launch in mid-May!
