Mayor’s welcome

Welcome to the 2024 Glen Eira Storytelling Festival!

28 February – 3 March 2024

Welcome to the 2024 Glen Eira Storytelling Festival.

Now in its thirteenth year, it aims to spark thought-provoking discussions through a dynamic blend of performance, music, art, and engaging conversations.

The Festival has established itself as a highly regarded event on Council’s events program.

Hosted this year by Glen Eira Libraries, it will run for five days from Wednesday 28 February to Sunday 3 March across all four library branches, Glen Eira Town Hall, and online.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to be inspired, entertained, and enlightened, as we embrace and celebrate the power of storytelling in all its vibrant forms.

It is through stories that we learn about ourselves, our communities, and the world around us. We are exposed to new ideas and challenged to see the world through different eyes.

This year, we have gathered some of Australia’s most captivating voices across many different fields: artists, historians, performers, chefs, musicians, authors, writers, scientists, and designers — all here to share stories, experiences, and ideas.

The combination of mesmerising narratives shared by our storytellers, as well as the energy, enthusiasm, and engagement from our community, is what will truly craft the magic of the Festival and make it an extraordinary event once again.

And to all those storytellers who are joining us this year, thank you for sharing with us.

My fellow Councillors and I hope you enjoy the Festival.
