Artists of the Brighton Cemetery

Step into Melbourne’s art history on a guided walk uncovering the lives, legacies and connections of artists laid to rest at Brighton Cemetery.

Many artists who played significant roles in the history of Australian art are buried in Brighton Cemetery. Hear the stories from beyond the grave of these fascinating lives and their connections to art and to one another. The late 19th and early 20th century Melbourne art world was comparatively small, so it is no surprise that many of their lives were closely intertwined.

Artists featured on this guided walk include members of the renowned Boyd family, as well as Albert Tucker, Will Dyson, and Frederick McCubbin  among the many notable artists laid to rest within the grounds of Brighton Cemetery.

Meet at the front gate on North Road. Please note that the ground may be uneven in places; sturdy, comfortable footwear is recommended.

Suitable for anyone interested in art.
Tickets: $15 per person — cash only on arrival.
Bookings required. Call Lois (03) 9558 4248
